ok new to the pc.. i apply the cross shape amount of product to the pad and work that into the 2x2 section, when done witht that section do i put more product on the pad or just move on??i know it sounds dumb but those little things get me... thanks for the help..

You should add more product when you move on. The x shape is good for "priming" the pad, after the initial application a simple line of product should be sufficient.
