  • What's a good simple wax?

Right, so I'm going to make an attempt at starting a mobile detailing service. My question is, what is a good wax to use on a car as part of a simple wash and wax?

Ultimate Quick Wax spray is good...
      it hides swirls,
and i can get whole month of hydrophobic on my nissan that has not been properly detailed for more than half year...

If you're not going to do any claying or polishing, I would suggest one of the cleaner-wax products.

          Yeah, I agree with wanting a cleaner/wax.

#6 or #66 is pretty general purpose.

#151 will be a good bit stronger.

Re: What's a good simple wax?

D151 is a great cleaner wax but to really get its potential machine polishing works the best with it (DA is fine). As Murr said it's the strongest cleaner wax in Meguiar's arsenal.

M06 and M66 work pretty good too.

You can still top a cleaner wax with your favorite finishing wax but now it makes it a 2-step detailing and in that case nothing can beat Meguiar's DA Microfiber Correction System.

M20 Polymer Sealant has light cleaning power and leaves behind a bright, glossy, durable shine. It's also unfinnicky and easy to use. I cannot remember anyone here on MOL making one complaint about M20. And it's available in a gallon jug.

A cleaner wax (like megs) maintained regularly with a good car wash and Ult quik detailer or Ultimate quik wax. Gold Class and NXT 2.0 do have very mild cleaners but nowhere near as needed to be categorized as a cleaner wax. its more of a polish-wax.

+1 on using a Cleaner Wax product.

In addition to the previously mentioned #151, #6, & #66 - there's are also the A12 and ColorX products.

I am using ColorX on my daily driver Ford Ranger (always parked outside without a cover) and I really like the results. ColorX's cleaning ability is enough to remove light water spots & stains while leaving a very slippery "waxed" feel (something your customers will notice)

I love ColorX, the only problem is the size... if in business, you will want to buy in bulk in most cases, unless you find good pricing.

M66 and a PC would be your best bet.

Not a fan of D151 myself.

Thanks guys. Sorry it took me so long to reply. I forgot where I left this thread. I like the price of M66 with regards to size, but since I'm not sure of how many customers I'll have, I'll start with ColorX since I won't be using a cleaner wax on my car (nothing wrong with it, but I usually do a full detail).
