Polishing Paint in Direct Sunlight?

Unfortunately, I do not have the option of polishing in a garagebut I wanted to ask the forum if it's a good or bad idea to polish in direct sunlight? The only place I have available is not shaded. Does this soften the paint and thereby make it very difficult to properly polish? I'm also thinking I could start polishing starting at sunset and use lights...does anyone have suggestions on what type of lighting to use? any help is greatly appreciated!

You can buy those halogen lights mounted on a pole pretty cheap.

The sunlight wont hurt anything, it is the surface temperature. If the sun is shining on the paint and heating it up to much, it will be hard to work. A general rule is being able to comfortably leave your hand on the surface.

It is possible and I have done it several times. I have no choice as I have no garage and no shade. M205 workes really well in the sun as you can see from this thread: http://meguiarsonline.com/forums/showthread.php?t=43479

If you want to use Ultimate Compound just be sure to use it wet/heavy to ensure that there is enough lubrication on the surface. Some will dry so using bit more than when not working on in the sun will help this.

I have a similar problem. I set up the portable gazebo. It's not perfect and you have to move the gazebo back and forth but it works with a little patience.
