    with the da polisher

my trunk had some swirls n some scratches

i started off with speed 5 on a yellow pad using UC...i noticed i was pressing too hard i saw the backing plate was slowing down...i let go a bit and it seemed to work better...i had a tiny bit of hazing nd got rid of it on speed 4 with 205...came out pretty good about 95% perfect

how fast is the backing plate suppose to be spinning like when ur putting pressure? is it suppose to be flying quick or is it suppose to slow down a lil bit?

sorry no pics..i took some but my phone is whack they all look the same

    Re: first experience

I like to apply less pressure than more. I also like to allow the pad and plate to rotate at a rather fast pace because I can always add more pressure if I need.

I do not usually compress the pad a lot when I use my DA.

Hope that helps. Sorry I can't really be more specific.

The more pressure you apply, the slower the pad will spin. How much pressure you actually need to use is going to be dictated by the pad you're using, the liquid used, how hard or delicate the paint is, and how severe the defects are. There is no one universal setting - speed or pressure - for the process of polishing paint.

But regardless, you do want the pad to still spin, even if slowly. In some cases you need a lot of pressure, and if that's the case you might want to mark the back of the backing plate with a Sharpie marker or even a little piece of masking tape to help you better see the pad rotation. Apply enough pressure to stop the rotation, then ease up a bit until the pad starts spinning again. But remember, you don't always need to use this level of pressure. You'll have to experiment a bit.

Beyond that, keep the pad as flat as possible on the paint. Once you start getting up onto an edge the rotation will slow dramatically or even stop completely. A flat pad is essential.
