  • Is Claying Still Needed?

I just polished half of my car using G110v2 and M205 (yellow and black pads). It turned out great! I did clayed these panels before removing the light defects. Now, the next day, I noticed a couple of isolated light defects left. I mean, you would not notice these defects, unless you are about a foot away and really concentrated at them in different angles (and lighting, of course).

Now, I want to remove this isolated defects, do I still need to clay these areas, before removing it with G110v2? Or, will M205 and yellow pads do fine? Thanks!

    No need to clay again.

You only need to clay when there are bonded contaminants. Unless you feel something stuck to the surface after 2 days, you'll be fine.

No need to clay after only two days. I would go with orange and 105. I think I see where you were going now in the other thread. It would be awesome to have 2 - 3 or 4" pads, but you will need another backing plate

Try the retailer in Vegas and see if they have what you need. If they don't, order from Kevin Brown @ iamwaxman@yahoo.com You could get by for now with as little as 2 pads and 1 plate. If you order through Kevin, buy a couple each 1500,2000,3000 sanding disks just in case

Thanks, guys! Yes, my clear coat is still silky smooth. My M205 will remove the light swirls and wax. Need to reapply a coat of TechWax 2.0.

Did I mention that M205 is an outstanding product by Meguiars. I am amazed of the shine, depth and clarity this produces. And men, you do not use a lot of this; a little goes a long way.
