Its no different from the old model besides the variable speed. It still oscillate at a max of 3000 opm's. I know if the new model came with more power you would see a lot more people using them. Power was its main drawback.Alan T.Comment

I don't think power is an issue at all-
I cannot bog mine down no matter how hard I press down. It just keeps spinning unlike the Porter Cable I tried.

The Cyclo definitely has a following. I think it's biggest downfall is it's size. It doesn't fit in the small areas like a PC with a 3 or 4 inch pad does.
ColinA common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.
