  • Can UC replace M105+M205?

    Hi,

    I already have UC
do I have to get M205 to get job done?
Or will UC be enough as it has to break down to less abrasive in process?
Or this is just wish and M105 + M205 combo remains on the top?

The only way I would attempt to get away with only using UC would be to use it as my first step on a cutting/polishing pad (refer to your brand of pad for whate color to use) and then use UC on a finishing pad as the second step.

The best bet is to get a legitimate finishing polish to use after.

This is totally dependent on how much correction the vehicle needs to get to the level of correction you (or your customer) is satisfied with. The 105/205 combo can do more, but only getting in there and working it will tell for sure.

UC is much, much more forgiving on a D/A than M105 - longer buffing cycle, a fraction of the dust, excellent defect removal ability. But will it replace both M105 and M205? We doubt it, but that also depends on how the paint responds and what your expectations are.

But you can probably replace M105/M205 with UC/SwirlX and get outstanding results all around, on the majority of paint you'll come across.

          tnx for answers ;-)

Can I say that UC & SwirlX are consumer package for M105/205?

            Re: Can UC replace M105+M205?

I'm by no means a pro, just a weekend hobbyist type of guy - but I've had some pretty good success with UC and a DA polisher on a recent project.

It was a single-stage red Toyota pickup. Most likely hadn't seen a wash in the past 6 years. Paint was chalky and the truck looked pink. He had tried something on the hood (by hand) and left a bit of a mess. Whatever it was came off with a strong scrubbing during the wash, so I wasn't too worried.

Started off with UC on a polishing pad - did a small section, cleaned the pad with a towel and wiped the panel, then did another application on the same area. I found that if I started with moderate to heavy pressure for two complete passes, then lightened a bit on successive passes until it was almost just the weight of the polisher (G110), then wiped the panel again and I was left with a very presentable result.

Now, I don't know how well this would work on other paints. When I did this before on a clearcoated paint I followed with 205 and got great results.

I'm quite impressed with it, especially since I can find it down the street at the auto parts store if I run short.
