  • Just ordered 110v2 - what else is needed?

I want to do everything possible to get my black car looking its best.

I got the DAP, 3 different pads - cutting, polishing and finishing.

My car's paint is the soft Japanese kind (its a 2002 SC430) and it has some oxidation from bird poop. I'm guessing i need M20532 Ultra Finishing Polish and M10532 Ultra Cut Compound for the poop removal, but does it come in a smaller container. I baby my car and it's not a daily driver (I got it used and it came with the poop)

What else should i get? Specificaly which items and in what order do i apply them? I have the clay bar and shampoo. One or 2 of their wax (forgot which ones). I have 2 sheep wool mittens, tons of micro fiber cloths, Ultimate Detailer, one of their quick wax spray...

    Thanks in advance!

Get some Ultimate Compound and SwirlX. They're a godsend with a DA, and are readily available in most stores.

I'd also invest in some grit guards so you can maintain your results when you're done.

More pads. Also if you want to use your d/a for removing wax. Get at least 2 microfiber bonnets.

If your paint truly is soft, then you'll likely never use the cutting pad on it (we don't recommend that pad with a D/A anyway, let along on delicate paint) or M105 - both are likely to be far too aggressive for a very soft paint.

Ultimate Compound may prove to be too aggressive overall as well, and this would likely manifest itself as a hazy appearance to the paint even after removing all the swirls, scratches, bird drop etching, etc. SwirlX may well be all you need if the paint really is that soft.

Do yourself a huge favor and do a test spot first, using SwirlX and a polishing pad, and see where that gets you first. We've seen cases of paint that is so soft you can correct it fully with just a finishing pad and something like ColorX, D151, etc. Those same paints respond very poorly to more aggressive approaches.

You might want to read through The Challenge of Delicate Paint before you get started too. Oh, and since you asked what else you need - get more polishing and finishing pads. A single pad is insufficient to do a full vehicle correction, even if the paint is soft. Heck, especially if the paint is soft! Pad cleanliness is going to be critically important if this paint is easily marred.

Re: Just ordered 110v2 - what else is needed?

Minutes after I placed my order, I got on your site again and read (on a different thread) not to use the cuting pad. Went back to amazon and removed it from my order. Too late for the 105 and 205 - I already ordered it an it went though. So I spent $50 for nothing?

There are way too many products that seem to be the same things and it makes it very difficult and very confusing on what to buy. I know what I want to do with the car, but no idea what to do.

I can't even post a pic of how it looks because I don't have enough posts made. By then it will be too late to post (it already is as i ordered my products) I don't know of any other forums that doesn't allow you to post picture or links until so many posts are made. I don't want to spend hours every night researching what to buy and then end up spending wasted money this is really frustrating.

There are different pads of different sized - 6.5, 8 and I think a 7" also. Does it matter which one I get?

What is the order of what needs to be done? Wash, clay, then whatever I need to remove scratches/bird oxidation, then wax? Which car wash is best? Which wax is best? Do I need M34 Final Inspection to prime my pads like it states to do on the back of my 205? I wish I knew I had to when I placed my order on everything. Now I have to order the M34 and wait for it to come before I can use anything.

Isn't there a link or site that has a 1,2,3... step by step of what to use and in what order? I want to use the best options/products. Why are the some many car shampoos and other products? I just want to buy the best Megauiar's has to offer. I have no idea what that is.

I use to sell stereo/vidoe equipment. I learned if there are too many options, customers get confused and don't buy anything. Whatever happened to when products were advertized as "Good", "Better", "Best"? I don't know which shampoo, wax, pad or anything is best. All i know is that I spent over $300 on my last order and I have no idea what to use or what order to use them in or if I should even use it because it may damage my paint. Plus I have about $100 more of products by Meguiar's in my garage...

Ok, in the above post I was very annoye and now I'm more calm...sorry...

I have a black Lexus SC430 where the paint is in very good condition, but there are a few 1X4 inch spots where the paint has oxidized because of bird poop It looks like little white spots. There are a few water spots that are not as bad.

I will post right after this post with a link to the Lexus board with pictures. Can you PLEASE allow the link to go through, or attach the phots of my car so I can get some advice on what to use. Pretty Please

SC430 - 2nd Gen (2001-2010) - Full Paint Job? - The 2002 SC430 I'm getting doesn't need any body work, and the paint is still in pretty good condition. But, I want it perfect. I'm still new to CA, but can you guys recommend any paint shops in the OC area? And idea on how much good paint jobs cost around here? Car is...

My thread to photos of my car. They are the last few posts on the page. Plus on the start of next page too.
