  • Planning to purchase a G110v2

    I am planning to purchase a Meguiar's G110v2. Now on the pads, I saw three pads, BURGUNDY, YELLOW AND BLACK. NOW, I am going to use the following:

    -SwirlX
    -UC
    -M07
    -TechWax 2.0

    Now, I only have minor scratches on my paint, because I try to be careful each and every time I touch it. Now, do I use the following combinations?:

    -SwirlX or UC -> BURGUNDY pad
    -M07 -> YELLOW pad
    -TechWax 2.0 -> BLACK pad

    Also, is there an article in this forum about cleaning the pads "ON-THE-FLY?"
    THANKS GUYS!

    Check this site for cleaning pad son the fly: http://meguiarsonline.com/forums/showthread.php?t=21413

    Meguiar's does not recommend using the burgandy cutting pads on your paint. You will instilll more problems than you are trying to correct. Use the yellow pad for correcting your swirls etc. Always do a test spot and start with the least aggressive product and work your way up if not getting the results you want.

      Actually Meguiar's does not "officially recommend" the use of the W7207 cutting pad with the G110v2 Dual Action Polisher. They do however state that if you wish to use them to do a test spot and inspect your results as micro marring/hazing may occur. If this is the case then a secondary pass with a W8207 pad will be necessary.

      I've personally used the W7207 cutting pads with my G110v2 polisher on black paint with great results and didn't even need to follow up with the W8207 polishing pad. Your results may vary. I don't own a rotary polisher. At times that I wish I did, this is when I'm glad I've got a cutting pad.

        I prefer not to use the burgundy pads for paint correction. I like using one with a microfiber bonnet for wax removal.

            Thanks, guys! My car only have light swirls, so I should use SwirlX + YELLOW pad.

            Also, I heard that I have to "work" SwirlX (or UC) to the paint, but how do I know if I have completely "worked" it in?

              I suggest you buy more than one of each pad, I made that mistake with my pc .

              You should get two polishing pads ( yellow ) and two finishing pads ( black )

              Yellow pad with swirl x ( UC if you need it )
              black pad for M07
              black pad for wax

              You know its completely worked in when its goes clear and you have a thin film on the car.

                Can you use the yellow pad with M07? I just got my G110v2 through a authorized detailing store. He told me that you can use the yellow pad with the M07. He said M07 is a polish, so you can use the yellow POLISHing pad.

                  What's so nice of having a authorized dealer here in Las Vegas is that when something goes wrong with my DA, they will replace it right away. Of course, under warranty.
