G100 = Orbital Sander?

Has anyone ever used there G100 as an obital sander? I have the Meg's version buffer and need to sand an old piece of furniture. I borrowed a belt sander, but it seems a bit too extreme for what I need to do.

Thoughts? I assume I would need to buy an attachment for it to hold the sanding disks...

Note, the primamry use will still be for my cars, thanks!

Well, when you consider that the Porter Cable 7424 (which is what the G100 is) was originally developed for that very purpose, we say go for it! You will need a backing plate that is designed for sanding use, but your local Home Depot or Lowes should have them. This tool really did begin life as a dual action sander, and was later adapted (heck, simply "adopted" might be a better word!) for paint polishing later on.

I have used my G100 before to strip off some old paint from the railings of my deck. It worked great.

Yes, Mike sanded a desk with his G100 several years back.

I used my PC as a sander when I repainted the hood of my Dads van. The thread is here somewhere...
