wax and polish application using the g110v2

When youre applying wax using the g, when do you usually stop and put more product onto the pad. I noticed that, in the case of colorx, after about a 2x2 foot area you stop seeing the whiteness of the product that you get from hand application, but there is still a very thin layer. Do you stop and use more product at this point?

Also with a polish, that directs to "rub until dry then remove excess product" would you do the same with the g. I don't really understand how there would be excess if you rubbed it dry.
