  • Meguiars G220 using

    Hi everyone,

Previously i have bought the meguiars G220 dual action polisher, this has been one of my dream products for quite a while, now i finally have it. before i have a blast at using it, i would like to clear some points on how to use it, as i have never used it before, questions as follows,

    - how to apply and how much product to apply to a pad, some people say using 'X' pattern, whilst some apply all around, both for cleaner (SwirlX), and pure polish.

    - what kind of size section should i be working on, can i do a whole door specifically for cleaning step?, for example.

    - a breif explanation of 'cleaning the pad on the fly' would be helpfull, do i have to do this after each time i apply a product to a section, also can it be done with a microfibre, as i was thinking a terry towel could leave some cotton lint.

    - what speed should i be using for applying cleaner (SwirlX), and for applying pure polish.

also the matter that the paintwork is MB nano clearcoat, makes any difference to application or not be of interest to you regarding above questions.

also a last question is the da meant to be quite fast and load at even speed 1.

thank you, will be much appreciated if you can reply as soon as possible..

just to add, the paintwork is largely swirled etc, but nothing very serious, so i am trying to achieve an almost 100% perfect finish by using the da polisher.

      Re: Meguiars G220 using

It doesn't matter if you use an X or circular pattern but once the pad is primed all you will need is a few pea sized drops on the pad.

Work a 2'x2' or smaller section at a time

Cleaning the pad after every section using a MF towel

      Speed 5-6

If the car is as bad as you say it is then I would recommend you start with Ultimate Compound and work your way down from there.
