dual action polisher broke

Not really sure where to post this question.
I just bought the polisher on 4-19-10 and just was using it on my car when the polishing wheel that holds the pad came off and the shaft hit the car. it looks like the joint that holds this wheel melted away. i'm not sure what i could of done to heat this up so much that this would of happen but it is melted.

any ideas or if this has happen to someone else any input would be helpful

Are you sure it wasn't the backing plate?

it is a Meguiar's G110v2
ok it is the backing plate i see that the plate it self melted from the joint. i have a rubber pad in my hand and the mount is still attached to the polisher. any idea why this happen?

Sometimes if you run the machine (DA) at speed 6 for long periods of time, there's a chance that the heat will transfer to the backing plate (melt/break) /pads (velcro come undone) thus damaging them and that's why Meguiar's doesn't recommend going above speed 5. Not to say you can't achieve good results and use the speed 6 setting, it's just that occurence like yours can happen. You'll just have to purchase another backing plate.

same exact thing happened to me...i called customer service and they sent me a new backing plate no questions asked - gotta love meguiars!!

i ordered it from amazon they all ready have shipped me a complete unit

Exact same thing just happened to me! I had just picked up a new G110, about 1 hour into the job, the center of the backing plate just broke right off!!!

I just got off the phone with John at customer service, and he's shipping me out a new one........MEGS customer service ROCKS!!! thanks sooooo much!!
