Cleaning up gf's car, quick question

SO my gf finally washed her black Chevy Malibu (04) after the winter, and the paint is appallingly bad. Very hazy, swirls everywhere, lots of scratches that I probably cannot get out.

I'm just looking to remove the finer haze/scratches and give the luster back to the paint. I have a few products at home that I can't recall, but I do know I have a few bottles of M105 that I love so much. Can I just clay/wash the car, use M105 on a 9006 pad(?), follow up with a finishing polish (I have one, can't remember the name), then wax and I'm done? Or is M105 not safe to just put on a car like that?

You would likely want a Polishing pad (8006 if it is an olde Meguiars pad) first.

#105 is a strong product to jump straight to, so be carefull to just work long enough to remove the haze/swirls.

Whoops, I meant the 8006 pad to polish it, then finish with the finishing polish I have. I didn't know the M105 was too aggressive to start with... Could I start with M205? I just purchased some online today. If that didn't clear up the hazing/scratches, would it be appropriate to go to M105 from there?

Try a test spot. See what works best for your girlfriends paint. Then proceed from there.

If it is terrible as you say, #105 might be what is needed. But some paint can be soft, which also means easily corrected/removed... so nice to start off gentle if possible. And yes, #205 would be a good mild product to check first.

The paint isn't awful, it's just what you'd expect from a 20 year old girl who doesn't really care too much about her car - Paint is dull, pretty swirled, lots of scratches from her keys, etc.

I'll run over it with M205. If that doesn't help, I'll test out M105 lightly in a small spot. Thanks for the help!

Just do the #205 in a test spot, then the #105. Dont do the whole car to see which you need.

I'll surely take some before/after pics. Hopefully it turns out well because it's my first time using the polisher and she will be if I make it worse!
