    Success with G220 - Swirls

    Hello to all fellow MOLians!
    A little while ago a created a thread in the "Working by hand" section about the upcoming detail on my car and explained how i was unable to remove the heavy swirls by hand...
    Well after getting onto the correct products and steps and the G220 machine i was able to acheive my result that i was after... finally. I have only done this to the bonnet to trial so i cant wait to finish the rest of the car.

    Before when i tried this process by hand i used the clay, swirl X with microfiber pad and tech wax 2.0.

    I admit that i should have used the clay kit before i did this again because it was a few months before this and i have a few rough spots on my car now from painters close by (grrr). I used the ultimate compound with cutting pad, then tech wax to finish by foam applicator pad.

    I also found that my colour was enriched a little, metallic flakes stood out more too. Oh the haziness in the second picture is only the reflection of the clouds. The wax was put on after i took these photo's too.

      Thank you for your comments Mark i appreciate it. Now that i have propper time to post i will hehe.
      I found that i did four seperate passes on my bonnet/hood of the car. Each pass i was slowly knicking away at the swirls then finally viola. I took my time making slow overlapping passes, with sideways and up down movements. After watching numerous video's on this site and digesting all the info i can, it gave me the confidence to tackle my car. Im a novice and wanted a safe machine that would leave me burn and swirl free. For anyone thinking of this model being the G220 or the G110 or Ver2 i highly recommend it for you! I found that after my first pass the pad left lots of dried deposits so the quick detailer helped in this case and also made it a lot easier to buff off when using the microfibre towel. I did this immediately after i put the machine down. The product came off so much easier!

      I know this question may be hard to answer because different paints react differently and are harder set than others, but how much is too much? Is there a limit to how many passes i can use with the Ultimate compound product before im at risk of shaving several layers of paint away or shouldn't i have any troubles...? Because im sure that over time i will need to remove swirls in years to come and will be taking more paint off.

        Well, hopefully any future swirls can be handled with a polishing pad, and SwirlX. Or at least less time with UC, which will be better for the paint. But here is some other info as well:
