  • First time using PCXP-How safe is the orange pad?

    Hello guys;

    Using my PC for the first time.
    I am working on a british racing green automobile that was striped and repainted alomost a year ago. The car has been wet-sanded since then, and is in over-all good shape. I have been using swirl-x with a cheaper auto-zone machine with OK results, but want to now try the swirl-x with the orange LC CCS pad I ordered along with my PC machine to see if I can get even better results. I realize I could try the white one first, but I have a feeling it may not do what I want it to.

    How safe is a this orange CCS pad to use on my finish?

    Thanks!!

    The orange pads are very safe. If Swirl-X on the orange isn't getting the job done give Ultimate Compound on an orange pad a try. That's one of my favorite combos. UC is a pretty amazing product. Especially when you consider how readily available it is.

      SwirlX is pretty mild stuff, and the buffer you've been using is extremely mild. If you've been getting "OK results" with that combo, we would suggest you do a test spot first with the white pad on the PCXP. The aggressiveness jump from the tool/pad (or bonnet) you have been using to the white pad/PCXP is huge. The LC white pad is roughly comparable to our yellow polishing pads. If that combo doesn't cut it for you we'd rather see you step up to UC on the white pad rather than go to a more aggressive pad with SwirlX. You run a higher risk of hazing the paint with the more aggressive pad than you do with the more aggressive liquid, especially when that more aggressive liquid is UC.
