G110 V2 problems

  • G110 V2 problems

    was curious if anyone has had any problems with the new 110 and the power cord... got mine before Xmas .. have done about 10 cars and today the power cord started acting up ... it would stay on unless the power cord was above my shoulder with the end (connected to the cord) forced up ... if i took it off my shoulder and the cord hung in a downward direction it would cut out .... is this a sign of failure?
    there were a few times thay i had to put the cord in my forcing it upwards just to stay on ...
    anyone seen this?
    should i return it ?

    Yes. Sounds like there is a problem for sure. You should have no problems with a return. Why wait till it dies in the middle of a detail? Or worst yet you get shocked from a faulty power cord.

      Fred -

      I agree with THE BIG BUFFER - it sounds like there is a problem with the connection between the cord and the device. Continuing to use it in this condition is pretty dangerous...

      If you could return it, i would definitely do so. An exchange would be fine as long as the cord is fine on the second one.

      If you cannot return/exchange it, you may have to take it apart and look to see where the faulty connection is and fix it. I know that "fix it" sounds vague, but PM me and I could give you more information if needed.

        I will try to reach out to Rick at ADS and discuss the return ... Or maybe I should go to Megs directly? Any of the Mike's out there this weekend?
        By the way what are the extra pair of brushes that come with the unit?

          This is why, if you're doing this for a living, it's good to have two. I know it costs more but it will save you in the end. These are man made, they will fail.

            Very true!
            I love the fact that I have all Megs gear and my customers who see my set up do as well as it's a name they trust and know so it works for me .... I just don't want to go pick up a PC in the morning and have mixed gear.
            We'll see what happens - will keep this thread alive.
            Anyone know where they sell some refurbed models for less than new prices?

              I'm sure that if you contacted your regional Meguiar's help line they would be more than happy to help you out in the best way they can. They may have a local approved repairer which they may go through etc. They are renowned for having great customer service so it's worth a try!!!

                  I have the same exact problem you do Fred except I have the old version with about the same amount of use. I called and they said to send it back for a new one.

                    same thing happend to my g110.... contacted customer service and everything got taken care of beautifuly! Meguiars has some of the best customer service around!

                      Unless you live in Canada. I love Meguiars and I will use their products till the day I die but customer service in Canada does not exsist.

                        Same thing happened to me on Friday in the middle of a job. I had to zip tie the cord at a certain angle to finish the job. Today I'm going to the irvine branch to warranty it. Hope they don't give me any problems. This was only the second car I've done with this v2 booooo!!!

                          As I was shopping for which DA Polisher to purchase, I was sooooo close to purchasing a flex. I went with the G110V2 instead, after reading this thread, and figuring, well, probably an isolated problem, I'm sure I wont have the same issue.

                          Well, havent even finished my first vehicle and my cord has failed. After a couple of hours of use. It doesn't take too much to see this is a design problem. I'm guessing where the cord enters the machine the wires are soldered to a pcb, and the connection is failing. What I don't want is a "replacement" I want a unit with the issue fixed. If I'm going to get into a "send back, return, fail, send back, return, fail" cycle, I'm not interested. I'll get a flex or PC. I'll dive into the warranty process this week and see how it goes..
                          Dissapointing.

                            I dropped mine off at meguiars in irvine and they sent me a brand new one with no problem but I wonder if I'll have the same problem with this one. Hopefully the problem was fixed because there was about a week down time and I missed out on two jobs for magazine shoots booooo! The new unit had to come from Conneticut

                              Is anyone else having this problem? What is the manufancured date on the box? I wonder if a fix is running on newer made G110v2's or is Megs just taking the returns and sending out another unit with the same design flaw,which means it will most likely happen again
