  • I tested out my new 110v2 today!

I did a 50/50 comparison on my trunk. The pictures aren't the greatest, but you can get an idea. There are still some spots on the paint, like where sap was or a bird poop or something..

    Before:

Also, used #0000 steel wool on my wheels:

This car has been repainted at some point, I know because it was my parent's car. What would be the cause for all the color on the pad? Surely there was clearcoat put on... It's an LC white pad, using Meg's UC.

Looks there wasn't any clearcoat put on when it was resprayed.......if there had been a clearcoat, you wouldn't have any green on the pad!

Definitely, single stage paint. You are off to a great start. Keep up the good work.

I don't think you need to worry about that, the DA is quite safe.

But also we all use the least aggressive products to get the job done, that the paint will last maybe longer then you if your like us car crazy detailing obsessed guys and gals that keep their paint at a high level of perfection. (or close as we can get it)

Seriously the better you know how to keep your paint in good shape the easyer it is to keep it that way and the less you have to use alittle stronger cleaners to remove the swirls-blemishes and paint defects.

                Hope that helped

The color transfer you see is perfectly normal for a single stage paint vehicle and is nothing to worry about. While it may look like you're pulling a lot of paint, you really aren't. When working on a clear coat paint system you're pulling just as much paint, you just can't see it because it's clear. You should be able to buff this paint just as often as any other paint without fear of going through it.

But keep this in mind: it is always better to prevent swirls and other defects in the first place rather than constantly buff them out. Preventing swirls involves zero paint removal. You've got a car with a respray so you can't say with 100% certainty that the new paint is of a certain thickness. We can make a good assumption about the paint on a factory finish, but unless you've gotten specific info directly from the painter, you can't say for sure how much paint is there. Still, a quality paint job should provide you with more than enough film build to work with for many years.
