  • soft buff 2.0 Question

Since the Soft buff 2.0 pads are machine washable, is it still recommended to use one pad per product?
There's no reason to become alarmed, and we hope you'll enjoy the rest of your flight. By the way, is there anyone on board who knows how to fly a plane?

That's no longer as critical. Machine washing of a paint cleaner or pure polish will remove virtually all of the product so cross contamination is virtually a non issue now. Even when using waxes on the finishing pad they come out very clean, so if you like to use different waxes/sealants you should experience virtually no cross contamination there either. Still, if you're a real stickler about these things, you can use a Sharpie to label the back of the pad.

Wash a pad for yourself and see how clean it comes out..... then judge for yourself. We doubt you'll be getting much use out of that Sharpie.

i actually just machine washed a soft buff 2.0 yellow polishing pad...it was used on a single stage paint..the color was black..be sure to clean your pad first with a terry towel to remove the heavy contamination of paint. then just throw em in the washer. worked for me. the pad came out shiny yellow

          its honestly really easy...

first and formost...make sure you are always cleaning your pad on the fly with a terry towel, nylon brush, whatever you use...

once you want to wash, go ahead throw in your pads into the washer (alone, dont throw anything else in it like towels or rags)...add your washing detergent...i put my setting to EXTRA WASH cause these pads take a beating with contamination..and once it done, dry them..thats all..just wash them like you would wash your towels and clothes

Yep, that's all there is to it. That EXTRA WASH setting is a good choice too as it gives additional rinse time to the pads. At Meguiar's Garage we run the washer and dryer on the heavy duty cycles and use warm water for the wash. At home it's basically the same thing.

What happens if you wash towels with the pads? I wasn't thinking about it threw my pads and MF both in together. I haven't see the end result as I did it on the way out the door for work and asked my wife to throw the towels in the dryer later and leave the pads out to air dry.

well the color of the microfibers will tend to stain into the pads..specially the yellow polishing pads, you will see the colors of your MF in the pad
