Re: Got my 220 today and tried it out!

Ok folks I waxed a car this afternoon with the 110 keeping all in mind as learned in this thread. Here is a pic after applying wax with the foam polish pad and the 110.

I have to admit, and it's amazing how you can never stop learning, that it was almost effortless to take the wax off and it was dry within 15 mins in a heated shop. Not only that but when we parked it outside for the customer to pick up, we usually are running around frantically before they show up with a microfiber towel and shammy trying to fix and remove any blemishes or streak marks from the wax. This time I didnt have to even touch it. I looked at it out in the light across the hood and it was flawless, didnt even have to touch it.

I also learned today that it does not take 3X longer to apply with the 110 like I posted earlier. That comment was based on my experience trying to apply wax with a much smaller, battery operated 4" finisher and certainly not a Meguiars product. The 110 applied this coat of wax in about the same amount of time as it would have took me to hand apply. I wont mention the brand of the other polisher I tried, but lets just say it rhymes with Limonizer.

This particular wax was the cleaner wax which is also something new. I think it came up pretty good. I used 1/2 of the little sample bottle size that they put in with the clay kit to do this car. I dont really know what is different about cleaner wax to regular wax other than it "cleans" the paint better? But Im assuming its still leaving a coat of wax after done as it certainly felt like it.

Im not sure how you apply the Next Tech wax to the 110 as a paste. Take a little spoon and scoop it on the pad like peanut butter? Yes a noobie question but it has to be asked before I do any more silly things with car waxing.

You did a nice job spreading out a thin coat of wax. A12 Cleaner Wax is easy to work with already, and yes it does clean the paint.

Not to mention (when using the D/A)... you use less product, and it gets evenly distributed onto the paint. The 4" pads will be great to apply pastes (was using Cyclo pads before) as it fits right inside the tin. Can't wait for these pads to come out!

Nice, isn't it, when the wax comes off that easy?!

A little practice and experience goes a long, long way, huh? You can spread a wax so thin, so even and so quickly using a G110 that you'll never go back!

And prior to this thread you probably didn't think there was enough in that bottle to even do a single car, did you? We hear that all the time - "that little bottle ain't enough to do nothin', why even bother with it?" Well, now you know what it means to apply a T H I N coat of wax! And you're right, Cleaner Wax contains a very mild abrasive that will actually clean the paint, removing embedded dirt, minor swirls, stains, etc. It's certainly not up the task of SwirlX or Ultimate Compound, but if the paint is in decent shape to begin with it can be a great all in one type product. If you ever want to step up to a slightly more aggressive cleaner wax, give ColorX a shot, or even D151 Paint Reconditioning Cream from the Detailer Line. And since these products do contain cleaners, using a polishing pad with them is perfectly fine.

Yes, using a paste wax with a G110 is a little trickier than using a liquid, but you've got it - spread a little bit like peanut butter. At least when using a 6" or 7" pad. With our new 4" pads you can pick it up right from the can. Of course, NXT and Gold Class both come in liquid form so you might want to pick those up next time around. And one other thing, when applying waxes like these two that do not contain any cleaners, it's best to use a foam finishing pad with the machine set on speed 3 for application. By this point you will have corrected all the defects and have a very nice finish, so you want a very gentle approach for this final product application. That's a finishing pad at a slow speed.

            Keep up the good work!!
