  • Removing Wax with a DA... Not so good

On the most important part of detailing a car, I tried saving time by using my G110 with a red cutting pad covered with the microfiber bonnet to remove wax.

Well big mistake. I somehow instilled a bunch of little half circle swirls smaller than a penny. I guess the bonnet's microfiber had something attached to it

Luckily I only did one door before I noticed it. I went back to just using regular microfibers. Less risk. :\

If you apply the LSP in thin coat(s), it will remove easy and I actually like to take my time removing it with a microfiber towels, so I don't marr/scratch all the previous effort of work I put into.

Yeah I realized I really don't mind removing LSP by hand. It feels like a shame though since I bought a pack of bonnets...

I was SO upset after I saw the marring.

I've never had a problem the few times I've used the DA to remove wax. Where did you buy the bonnets from? What brand?

A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.

Hopefully can just be washes out, and used in the future. The ADS ones work well for me when I use them.

Sorry to hear about your mishap. I regularly use the bonnets and the red cutting pad to remove wax with no issues.

I use the Ultimate Megs bonnets with a yellow 2.0 pad and D/A set on 3.5 to remove # 21 and it works Great. I allow to dry and after swipe test I wait an add. 15 min.

And The White Ultimate Wipes are the best towel I have ever used( 30 + years ) to remove Polish and wax. (Thanks Andy and Tim)

                I had the ADS ones.

My family has been using "pine pellets" for cat sand and they seem to turn into these particles that attach to fabric horribly and feel impossible to remove! Kind of like those little seed things in the forest that will attach to animal skin or clothes.

I've been unable to wash them out of my microfibers and have been assigning these fibers to wheels and such instead now.

But regardless, I think I'll give the bonnets a shot again seeing how most of you haven't encountered this problem. They're the ones from ADS.

Maybe the pellets got on you bonnets in the washer? May have to be carefull with all your MF's?

I actually think we got the pellets AFTER the micro fiber incident. I think I had something else stuck in the microfiber.
