  • First time using the G110

I might be "renting" a G110 polisher from a Meguiar's Online user. My car is black and has bad scratches and light swirls. My plan was to wash the car and later follow with Ultimate Compound and finalize with Tech Wax 2.0. Should I use ScratchX and SwirlX instead? Also, if I wanted to throw in ColorX when should I use that? Thank you.

In general, you would want to use SwirlX on a test spot, and then use UC if needed. Then wax after of course.

ColorX would not really be used for this detail, but can make for a quick detail in the future, esp by hand.

      hi

Depending on the pad of choice and the hardness of the paint, Ultimate Compound may create some very fine scratches and swirls, which can be noticeable on black paint under the sun. If you could, use Ultimate Compound by hand in areas with deep scratches, then follow up the entire car with SwirlX.

To avoid damaging the pads and scratching nearby surfaces, mask the areas that are rusted.

If you want to use ColorX, which is a Cleaner/Polish/Wax all in one, you should use it AFTER Ultimate Compound or SwirlX, but before NXT 2.0. I have never used ColorX, but it seems that many people use it in place of SwirlX.

Thanks of the advice. I've been told by you and Murr1525 to use SwirlX before the wax. Would the SwirlX remove the scratches or why use that instead of ScratchX? Thanks!

Its kind of a progession... SwirlX is milder, ScratchX 2.0 is medium, and UC is stronger.

In general, you can safely go from SwirlX to UC, and not have to buy the middle product. You dont want to just jump to a strong product every time. And esp if this is your first time, you will want to at least practice a pass or two of a milder product as well.

SwirlX is strong enough to remove some defects, but can be applied more gently for regular use in the future as well.
