  • First go with the G220/110

    Hello all,
I am new @ MOL and are looking forward to learn how to detail.
Last week I decided to get the G220/110 DA, had a first go this morning and the objective was to remove some swirl marks. Marked up a test-spot and had a go with the new Swirl-x w/W8207 Polishing Pad, and finished off with Nxt Tech 2.0 applied w/W9207 Finishing Pad.

I am quite impressed with the result as beeing my first time with a DA.
Just thought I would post a picture, even though its a bad picture from my cellphone:

Turned out as a very small image, possible to resize?
    Anyway- here it is.

    Welcome to MOL!

We corrected your image; turns out you had linked to the thumbnail of the image and not the image itself.

And wow, what an image it is! The paint looks like there's almost no orange peel as the detail in the clouds is pretty fantastic and you can see almost every needle on the pine trees. Nice work, especially for a first time user of the G220.

Is it safe to assume this is your Audi TT? We hear a lot of talk about Audi paint being really hard and therefore difficult to correct. It would appear that you overcame that challenge quite well.

      Hi Michael,
Thanks a lot for the warm welcome and kind words, and helping out with the picture

And yes- it is my TT.

Well, I think it turned out pretty good, there are still some light "scratch" marks If you look closely in direct sunlight. So maybe you are right about Audi and their paint beeing hard to correct. But for beeing my first time with the DA I am very impressed both by the G220 and Swirl-x combined with Nxt tech 2.0. Exeptional depth, and a very smooth finish.

Would it be even better by another layer with Nxt wax?

Re: First go with the G220/110 *update*

Here is another reflection shot with some more details in it, just to see how the finish reflects light, true color etc :-)
            From the gas station.

Shot taken after another go with swirl-x and a thin layer with NXT Tech 2.0, same panel as the first picture (boot of my car).

Almost getting there with the result I desire
