  • Re-using pads

So, I didn't know what I was doing and used some Gold Class Liquid Wax on my Polishing pad.

Looking back at that, I probably should have used my Finishing pad instead. (Although I'm starting to not like applying waxes by machine...)

Currently the only pad I re-use is one for SwirlX and Ultimate Compound. I clean them on the fly with a terry cloth. I have a dedicated pad for everything else so far..

If I clean it with Dawn and rinse it out well, it shouldn't be a problem using this for something like M105 right? I've got a dedicated Polishing pad for M205, but thinking I may need a Finishing pad for M205. Still experimenting.

What's the general opinion on mixing products on pads and re-using them for other products after cleaning them?

Clean it as normal, and use whatever you want on it from there.

You really only run into problems when you step DOWN in cutting power on the same pad - i.e. Don't use a pad that you use for M105 with M9 without a thorough cleaning, and even then you can't be ASSURED that you've gotten all of the more aggressive product out of the pad.
I would feel fine using a pad that I had used liquid wax on for just about any other product after I cleaned the pad. Exception would be NXT or any of the other waxes that have cleaners, as the mild cleaning ability may not be wanted when using a pure wax such as M26.
If a tree falls in the forest and there's nobody there to record the event, how can you be certain that there was a tree or even a forest to begin with?
