  • Finally getting a G110!!

Well tomorrow I'll be placing my order at ADS for a G110!

After feeling pretty confidant on my detailing by hand skills I'm now ready to dive into the art of detailing by machine.
I'll be getting the G110 express kit, I'm also picking up the 12oz sample of 105, 32oz sample of Wheel Bright, some M21v2, and a Marine Water Magnet.

    Couple of questions for y'all...
    1. How many vehicles can I get out of the 105 & 205 samples?
    2. How well do the Soft Buff 1.0 6.5 pads hold up on the W67DA backing plate? I have a shop in my area that sells them.
    3. How well does the Water Magnet dry a vehicle? Would one be sufficiant?
    4. Do the buffing spurs work for a DA also?
    5. Is there anything else I should consider or is a must have for the G110?

    Thanks guys!!

Tough to say because it depends on how bad each vehicle is. The nicer the vehicle, the less product you will use. Overall, you will tend to use more of the M105 since you will be removing defects with it, so expect to go through it quicker.

The 1.0 pads will work out just fine with the W67DA, but you will just not be able to wash them of course. In due time, we would suggest picking up some 2.0 pads, since they are washable and contain the double laminate for extra durability.

The Water Magnet is awesome ! One should be sufficient. Here is a tip for you...Wash and dry the Water Magnet before you use it and it will help on that 1st vehicle drying. After that keep in clean by washing and drying it on a regular basis to keep it in tip top shape.

You don't want to use a wool spur on a foam pad. The best way to keep the foam pads clean on the fly so to speak, is with a nylon brush or even a towel to clean the pad. Make sure and mark each pad on the back with the product it is used for since we do not recommend mixing products on pads.

We mentioned the 2.0 pads earlier, but the new W68DA backing plate would be a nice compliment to the 2.0 pads also

Let us know how your 1st couple of uses go with the machine !!!

      Re: Finally getting a G110!!

Is Meguiar's hiring? I want to be that helpful and nice! And care about the products.

Underdawg I just used the G110 and M105 for the first time on my truck last night, unreal results, while not all the swirls were removed, I could tell a few passes with the 205 would clean it up. It took me more time getting my technique down and apply a correct amount of product and pressure, but its addicting. I want to go home "sick" from work just to go polish my truck...but then again I wouldn't have to call in sick if I worked for Megs... Good luck with your order!

        Re: Finally getting a G110!!

Mike, Thanks for squaring me away on my questions, VERY helpful!

I might hold off on the W68DA for the next order and bump up the 105 to a 32oz and add a couple extra 2.0 pads. I've heard and read nothing but praise for the Water Magnet, I'm tired of using my hospital towels to dry...I'm lacking a garage and driveway so I have to sacrifice a bit at the car wash.

I was wondering about the pad spur, couldn't find anything on it's use with a foam pad, thanks for the heads up, I'll stick with the cleaning on the fly method!

Ohh you best better believe I'll be showing off! I haven't read up on any G110 write ups lately but I'll be refreshing myself this week, and picking peoples brains. Hopefully I won't be going to California next weekend as Uncle Sam wants me to, If not next weekend I'll be conducting the third installment of my ordeal with the wifey's car! I have a couple details lined up, just need the time to follow thru with them.

Zuke, good deal with your G110, I noticed several folks here went with the upgrade from hand to machine. My job enables me to look at MOL all day, unfortunately all I can detail are the rigs, not a bad deal but once other folks get ahold of them the paint usually goes downhill in a hurry!
