  • blackfire wet ice over fire shine

i have all the normal meguiar products and a PC and was just wondering if the blackfire wet ice over fire shine is worth the cost? i use NXT now as a top wax and like the results, but am wondering "how much better can it get"? i am starting to do this as a side job, and at my going rate it would NOT be worth it for me to use it on a customers car, so i would definitely have to up my prices if they wanted it i know, but as of right now my customers wouldnt pay for it....but my black gt would get it

I have heard it is excellent from everyone that uses it on other forums, but those are sponsored by Blackfire so they might be biased towards it. Nonetheless it is a great combo. I will stick with NXT topped with GC though.

If its fast, loud, and runs on a flammable liquid...count me in.

On the other side is FK1 Ultra Poly Wipe Sealant 2180. I was in RickRack's shop one day and the UPS man showed up with a box of products so I just grabbed some to test.

Re: blackfire wet ice over fire shine

Long time NXT 2.0 user and tried BF Wet Diamond recently and I love it (and I'm no company guy).

I'm pretty tough on LSP's and I really like NXT 2.0 (on of my favorites). IMHO, BFWD and NXT 2.0 look about the same, but the Blackfire creates a much slicker surface (never felt anything so slick).

I'm going on about 4-5 weeks with BF and it is still beading tightly.

Also, whether or not you can believe this... In Canada...

              NXT = $27.99 (walmart) and BFWD = $19.99 + shipping.

Yeah, there is no doubt that NXT is cheaper for you and you can't go wrong with it, but if you ever get the urge to experiment, try BFWD.

It's biggest advantage over NXT is that it doesn't stain trim and if you're sloppy like me, that makes a difference. My bet is that when Meg's comes out with NXT 3.0 it'll be non-staining.

If I'm understanding this right blackfire wet ice over fire shine is really two products? Wet Diamond and Midnight Sun = Wet Ice Over Fire Shine?

Re: blackfire wet ice over fire shine

I tried Blackfire Wet Diamond and followed it up with P21s. Not quite the Wet Ice over Fire, since I did not have any of the Midnight Sun, but I was pleased with the results. I will continue to use it in the future and once I use up my P21s I am going to try Midnight Sun.

I think it improved the look from simply P21s alone.

It would not work well for a professional detailer since it looks best with two coats of Blackfire that must be at least 8 hours apart. Then you need another 8 hours cure time before waxing.

BTW - The Blackfire Wet Diamond is difficult, if not impossible, to completely clean from the pads after use. So set aside a pad or two that you will use only with Blackfire.

Yup. There has been some discussion that Midnight Sun improves depth it takes away some of the slickness.

I've never tried Midnight Sun so I can't speak to it, but frankly BFWD looked so good I didn't feel the need to enhance it.

I've tried it both ways and couldn't see a discernable difference between 1 or 2 applications. I prefer two, only to ensure uniform coverage, although I've also seen the makers of the product say what you wrote. Personally, I think it's just marketing.

Very true. I have a dedicated W9006 pad for it which has never been used with anything else (although I also have one for NXT 2.0).

Sure sounds like someone spent some considerable time working with the nomenclature of those products. Kudos to them, the marketing alone should move their products pretty well. I know I am a sucker for a catchy name or package sometimes...
