how would i go about getting the dripping wet look? i finish up with NXT 2.0 and the PC with the black meg finishing pad. would i just do another coat or more of NXT to get what im looking for? i read up on the cure time between coats and all that. should i use a carnuba wax first and then the NXT?

Re: dripping wet look
It's all in the prep work. If you've clayed, then polished out all of the swirls, Nxt is more than sufficient. For extra pop, you can use M07 Show Car Glaze after polishing, then Nxt 2.0, then Carnauba (I like M26).
Just keep in mind that the best waxes in the world won't look good if the surface hasn't been prepped properly first. The deep wet look comes from the flawless finish
Good luck

Re: dripping wet look
well i was talking about in general, but for an example i just did my gt and i washed then clayed and then used some 105 to get most of the scratches out (first real time using the PC so i got some learning to do to get ALL of them out), then i used some pinnical swirl remover (seemed to work better than the speed glaze 80 or 83 whichever). then i used the NXT. i have some m26, but wasnt sure if that should go on before or after the NXT. if i was to use it, would i have to let the NXT cure the ~12 hours before the m26?
the gt looked amazing! much better than it has ever looked, but it didnt have that deep down wet look like many of you all produce, but she was shiny as hell! lol...o, and it is black if that makes a difference.

Won't be as clean a surface opposed to polishing and waxing right after claying, but yes it's OK. I'll stick with that till the pros say otherwise.Alex C.

Re: dripping wet look
i THINK i prepped it pretty good, i mean it looks the best it ever has...its been 2 weeks and i still get compliments on it (which i know i should) but it just doesnt have that much depth. maybe it was the fact that i did my detail in a parking garage because it was raining and basically 5 min after i got done with it i had to drive it home in the rain and didnt let the wax cure before it got wet?

Re: dripping wet look
What was your prep work? What was your final step before applying the NXT 2.0? What color is the car? I have a Satin Silver Accord and I just tried some Wet Obsession wax and it makes this boring color shine and look wet.

Re: dripping wet look
It might have something to do with your polishing technique. Not having the right pad pressure or machine speed may contribute to not getting the clearest finish. I don't know about the non-Meguiars products or their tendencies.
For instance, I was working on a black Suburban a few weeks ago, and the kind folks at MOL helped me tweak my process. I was using M205 and a Meguiars black finishing pad with the G100 after some rotary work to get the rotary holograms out, but kept getting some hazing or micro-marring in the paint, which definitely didn't not give it that "dripping wet paint" look. I was using speed 3 and below and not much pressure thinking I needed to be more gentle. Well, the advice I received was more pressure without stopping the rotation of the pad, combined with using speed 5 throughout and it virtually eliminated the hazing! I definitely got that deep wet look after topping with NXT! No second coat of NXT, no #7 Show car glaze (both would have improved it!) and it still looked really wet and reflective.
I would definitely give M205 a shot. It finishes out quite well with the DA with the right technique. I've found it to work better with more paints than M80 and finish out a little more clear and reflective and "wet", if you will.
This truck has 102k on it. I used M105 with the rotary and a wool pad, then M205 with the rotary and a polishing pad, then M205 with the DA and a finishing pad.

If it's garaged,I reckon it would be fine.
If it's outdoors:I believe an estimated time for build of contaminents that actually bond to your clearcoat is about 3 days. This would also depend on location.
