I'm not exactly sure what you are describing... I may be dumb but I'm not quite sure what you mean by fascia.

Do you have a picture of it?

I once put swirls in my paint just to see what it looked like.

    I don't always detail cars, but when I do, I prefer Meguiar's.
    Remove swirls my friends.

Do you mean where the raised peaks are coming down to the grill?

With a DA buffer it shouldn't be a big issue. With a rotary you would want to be careful about burning off the peaks, but with a dual action buffers burn through is not likely.

        What are you working with?

Regardless, you'll be okay and so will your car's paint. At Meguiar's we teach people to buff up to body lines, don't hammer on top of them.

Actually whenever you move your pad over a surface that has a high point, like a body line, the extra pressure by the high point will tend to stop the pad from rotating thus no fear of burning through.

Besides that, unless someone's been using an aggressive compound in this area there should be nothing to worry about.

My Crossfire has a similar spine down the center of the hood (and additional grooves to both sides) and with the G110 I'm not worried at all. With a rotary, of course, I watch it like a hawk.
