Anyone use these pads with 205? I tried one on my Flex DA and my Makita and it seemed the pad was coming apart. There was foam dust everywhere on the hood I was buffing out. Anyone else have this issue?

Re: Megs 2.0 Soft Buff Finishing Pad issue
i ran into the same problem the day i got mine. no worries theres a simple and easy fix to that. look into pad priming, or some people call it the Kevin Brown method... basically your buffing on dry spots on your foam pad. so you want to evenly spread product over your pad, but not over saturate it... atleast thats what i learned on my g110.. Yes, I experienced the foam dusting problem this past week with my Flex using both new Soft Buff 2.0 polishing and finishing pads, despite my priming the pads as advised by Chris Dasher. The problem appeared to go away or at least improved significantly after I washed the pads.

Re: Megs 2.0 Soft Buff Finishing Pad issue
Pad was primed. I even misted it with some water thinking that might help. I will have to try to clean the pad and see what happens. Hopefully that will help.If its fast, loud, and runs on a flammable liquid...count me in.

When the pads are new, they will shed for the first use and that is quite normal. After washing them, they will be fine. Keep in mind if they are washed, but some product remains in them, they will now shed dry product particles. Again, this will diminish quickly.
One way to speed up the process on a new pad is to prime it with product, work it in by hand and then clean it with a towel before using it on the vehicle. With the rotary, you could prime the pad and then use a brush on the pad while spinning it slowly. This again should remove any foam particles from the manufacturing process, thereby minimizing any foam particles flying off.

I put a pad brush to work before polishing with any new pads, especially wool... gets rid of excess material fast.Ivan Rajic - LUSTR Auto Detail

Even with the pad primed I run into the same problem, so I clean the pad on the fly, and re prime and it is all good.Joel

Re: Megs 2.0 Soft Buff Finishing Pad issue
I just got my first DA and some pads, I took a look at the link to the pad priming thread. Do you just apply product in a circle near the outter edge and then use your hand to spread it over the pad without the polisher running? Thanks in advance.

Re: Megs 2.0 Soft Buff Finishing Pad issue
I do an "X" and then a full circle. Then you really want to massage the paint into the pad with your thumbs. The key is to get the entire pad covered in product bit not to completely fill all the pores of the pad. Hence the rubbing with your thumbs. Then I wipe off the excess with a damp terry cloth towel. I like to use a towel that has been washed a few time to minimize the chance of towel fibers falling off and ending up on the pad. Once you have a good uniform amount of product in the pad buff away!Jason
