  • G110 backing plate question.

Anyone use a 6" backing plate with your G110? I generally use only 6.5" pads and notice that when I apply pressure to the pad, the stock backing plate leaves about a half inch in diameter of the pad exposed, therefore, not allowing all of the surface area of the pad to receive pressure. I ordered a 6" backing plate today. Anyone notice any extra vibration with a bigger bp?

Just be careful of the reduced safety margin with the larger plate.

Reduced safety margin? Can you elaborate?

Less pad more backing plate to hit the paint... possibly...

As for the bp and pads, I would recommend you try some 5.5" Lake Country CCS pads... at least for the 1st of two or more steps... you'll be pleasantly surprised...

I am not too concerned with the backing plate hitting the paint. I am a professional detailer and I have been using a PC for years, but I know accidents can happen, however, thats not what concerns me. I have 5.5" pads, but I prefer 6.5". I don't see any difference in using the 6.5 besides the greater surface area so thats what I'm after with the bigger backing plate. I was just curious to see if anyone had tried the 6" bp on their G110.

If you keep the same pad size and increase the diameter of the bp, there is less 'cushion' if you will around the edges.. bp will burn in no time flat, unlike the foam.

Anyone actually used a 6" backing plate on a G110?
