Piece of advice for you... do not draw conclusions about stuff as soon as you read it... you'll read that same thing another 100 times, then you'll read the opposite 100 more times... it's simply how it is in the detailing world... even when you know a lot about a lot you're never right and your choice of process/products won't be right to/for everyone... so just keep reading and learning and trying things out until you find what works best for you..

On a side note, Lake country has flat pads as well, it's just that the discussion here led to ccs LC pads vs flat (which you considered only to be Meg's flat)

Yeah I found out LC has flat pads but autogeek.net doesn't sell them... I'm hoping I can buy everything from autogeek.net

They don't? Weird... I buy LC flat pads from detailedimage.com but I really prefer M8006 and 9006 (Meg's old 6.5" flat pads, polishing and finishing, respectively) to any other flat or non-flat out there

I found it! But it is only 6.5in... http://www.autogeek.net/vcpad.html

Hey Mike, do you have both ccs and megs pads at your Saturday's detailing class? It would be wonderful if you can show the difference in person.

Yeah best advice I had received today! I will have to research more. And hopefully I will be able to make it to this week's Saturday class so I can learn more from Mike and about the different products and pads.

Exactly... I may seem biased towards Meg's, but it's not due to lack of knowledge... when I started out 3-4 years ago, I started with Meg's OTC products... after learning and getting fairly good with the rotary (and PC) I started ordering polishes and pads like a madman... went through Poorboys, Menzerna, Optimum, Pinnacle, Meg's, 1Z, and a couple others I can't even think of now... long story short, last spring I decided to perfect my techniques working with what works best, so all that stayed on my shelf was Menzerna and Meguiar's (I'm talking about polishes, everything else is a mix of stuff but I think it's mostly Meg's)... I use Meg's a lot more but Menzerna has amazing polishes that simply have to be used sometimes. Now I've gone full circle and use Meg's 80-90% of the time (use Menz for finishing sometimes) and couldn't be happier (as are my clients).

So IMHO, pick up some Meg's M09, M82, M80, M83 and start from there... there's no other line of products that's as user friendly but still creates perfect results.
