  • M80/M83 - which one?

    Hello,

Sorry to post another thread, but I was going through my detailing arsenal last night, and I came across several products that I forgot I had ordered about a year ago. Among them are: M80 and M83.

So, I was just wondering if I should use M83 instead of the Swirl X, followed by NXT 2.0. Which one will be more effective in removing swirls, and which one will produce a better prep surface for the wax/protectant?

Lastly, I was going to follow these steps:

    1. Wash
    2. Clay (Meg's smooth clay kit)
    3. Polish with either M80/M83/Swirl X (W8006 pad)(this is where I need help/advice)
    4. Wax with Megs NXT 2.0 with a W9006 finishing pad.

The answer is it could be any one of those products. You will need to do a test spot to determine which product(s) will get the job done. Start with the least agressive one. Refer to the agressive scale on the bottle....ie M83 is more agressive than M80, so start with M80. Work the area with the least agressive product and see if that fixes the problem...if not then move up to the next higher agressive product and try that. Dial in the process with a small test area, then use that technique with the entire car.

One additional factor is the type of pad you will use. A polishing pad is more agressive than a finishing pad. The combination of product and pad will equal the level of agressiveness.

You may start with a polishing pad and M83 and then finish up with M80 and a finishing pad as an example.

I would do a test spot with SwirlX first and see how it works on a polishing pad. If it has enough cut to correct what you are wanting to correct and finishes out well then you are good to go. If you want it to finish out better then try it on a finishing pad on both the spot you did with it on a polishing pad and a spot that has had nothing done to it. Now compare those two. If it has enough bite on just a finishing pad then procede with the whole car in that fashion. If it looks better on the side where you started with a polishing pad then procede in that fashion. Get it? Test spots are your friend
