  • G100 DA questions.

    Hello,

I purchased a G100 last year, and I fully intend on using it more this year Anyway, when I purchased the G100, I also purchased some Meguiar 8006 and 9006 pads. I was just wondering what speed I want to use both of these pads at? I was looking at the newer pads, and I saw that Mike recommend NOT using the speed 6 on the DA with the new pads. Does this still hold true for the pads that I currently have?

Also, what is the difference between a PC 7424, G100, and the UDM (Ulitimate Detailing Machine)? Which of these is the best?

    Thanks again, guys!

    Jeff

P.s. Lastly, I have the 6" or 6.5 inch backing plate. Do I want something else to remove swirls?

    Re: G100 DA questions.

    I really Like my G110.
I believe the 7424 is similar if not the same as the g110 or G100
You Need some Products that is what else you need.
I would not use speed 6.
    I use 205 and 105 at speed 5.

      Re: G100 DA questions.

Never really ever have to use Speed 6!

      For Waxing/Sealants: 2-3
      For Polishing/Compounds:4-5

All the machines you listed are similar, just different brands

As long as your Backing Plate fits your pads, your good to go.

To remove Swirls Use the new M105/M205 Combo.

      1. Wash
      2. Clay
      3. M105
      4. M205
      5. NXT 2.0 Wax

        Re: G100 DA questions.

Did the G100 come with the 6.5 inch back plate? I should have looked when I was home today, but I forgot. I'm seriously thinking about purchasing some new 2.0 soft buff pads, but I'm not sure if that will require me getting a new back plate.

Also, the new 2.0 soft buff pads will work on my old G 100 unit, right?

          Re: G100 DA questions.

The G100A came with the backing plate, while the G100 did not.

The most recent G100 is the same as the 7424. But, I have seen a 7335 with the Meguiar's logo and the G100 badge. Also, the G110 is an entirely new design and not the same as the G100, 7424, 7336, and 7335. Of all the DA's available, I prefer the G110 because of the power advantage. The UDM has recently been switched to a rebadged Porter Cable unit.

Sure, the burgundy backing plate (W64DA) that came with your G100 will be perfect for the Soft Buff 2.0 pads.

            Re: G100 DA questions.

They Do Not Require the New Backing Plate to My Knowledge.
But I would Buy a New One.
Then You have the Old as a Back Up.
Plus the New Pads in Conjunction with the New Backing Plate Have Perfect Centering.

              Re: G100 DA questions.

The backing plate you have is compatible with the Pads you have now.

If you have the money than I would recommend the new Soft Buff 2.0 Pads and the new Backing Plate...

                Re: G100 DA questions.

Let's add some of the part numbers to avoid confusion...

The backing plate that came with your G100 should be the burgundy W64DA. Last year, the W67DA plate was released. This plate is a one piece version of the W64DA. It's the same size, but yellow and black.

For 2008, the W68DA plate was released. This offers complete pad coverage and is made for the new Soft Buff 2.0 pads. By covering more of the pad, you increase the cutting power because the entire pad is supported by the plate.

                  Re: G100 DA questions.

Just to add I feel better by always having a spare backing plate on hand. Regardless of the model #. The old w64da fell apart on me in the middle of a detail. No spare. Not going to happen to me again. lol.
