  • How do you care for non-washable pads?

I've never used non-2.0 pads before. However, today I used an old 6.5 inch Meguiar's polishing pad, brand new, to see if it would be more aggressive, with a smaller pad for the G110 to move. Well, it did seem to be faster, or more intense, but my defects are still there.

However, point of thread: now I'm curious, if I should just throw the pad away, or keep it?

I used M105 DA on it. It is very clean looking. Just the crusty/dried M105 on it. Thanks!!

you could try some spurs on it or a use a pressure washer to blast it using low pressure

Are you referring to the Soft Buff 1.0 Pads?

      Those can be washed.

Not quite. The Soft Buff 6.5in pads should not be placed in a washing machine. The new Soft Buff 2.0 pads have a special laminate that is not affected by any form of washing.

One recommended method is to take a stiff nylon brush and brush the surface.

I did clean on the fly many times. Sounds like this might just be for the trash.

The washable pads sure were a great invention, weren't they?

A lot of blotting and squeezing is good.

I stick mine under the faucet with warm water running at a pretty good pressure. I spray it heavily with APC 4:1 and just keep kneading the foam until the pad is clean. When it's clean and the APC is rinsed out of it, I just squeeze as much water out as I can and place it on a Grit Guard with the Velcro side up to dry.

I can get my 1.0 pads just as clean that way as I can my 2.0 pads in the washing machine.

If you use a lot of pads the the universal pad washer is a good investment.

If the residue is all dried, take a stiff nylon brush to it and brush the dried residue off.

Hot or warm water and APC+ works wonders for me.
After im done with a pad I put them in a bucket with soap and hot water so they dont dry up while i'm still working. Sure saves time for me.
