So I have a few questions here. With the large amount of products available today I'm just wondering what pads you guys are using with them. For example I know for waxes/sealants/glazes the finishing pad (W9006) is used. For products like the M83/M80/M105 the polishing pad is used (W8006). I know meguiar's doesn't recommend a cutting pad on a DA so the cutting pads (W7006) are used to wrap a bonnet over for removal of waxes/sealants/glazes. So Here's my question. Do products like Color-X or any cleaner waxes require the W8006 pad? Also does the M205 work best with the W9006 or the W8006? I tried searching and couldn't really find and appropriate answers for me. Thanks for your help.

Good question about cleaner waxes and pads. I did a search on this a while back, and I found an article by Mike P. on ColorX:

For neglected finishes use the product very wet, (plenty of product on the surface), and put some passion behind the pad when working by hand or use Meguiar's W-8006 Foam Polishing Pad on a DA Polisher on the 5.0 Speed Setting.

For finishes in good to excellent condition simply apply gently but thoroughly over the surface by hand or with either a foam polishing or finishing pad on the 3.0 to 4.0 Speed Setting on a DA Polisher.

Always allow a Meguiar's wax to completely dry before removing, cleaner/waxes tend to dry fairly fast so it won't take long to dry. After it dries wipe the dried residue off the paint using a clean, soft microfiber polishing cloth.

I believe that Mike's answer would apply equally to Cleaner Wax and M20.

Does anyone have any experience machine-applying Cleaner Wax with a polishing pad? I was thinking about doing this next week, and I welcome any wisdom anyone could share.

Good question,

If you're working on neglected paint you want to use a polishing pad as you want a little aggressiveness provided by the foam to compliment the chemical cleaners and any DAT or SMAT ingredients in the cleaner/waxes.

If the finish you're working on is smooth and clean, and all you're trying to do is spread out cleaner/wax as part of a maintenance program then you could use either a polishing pad or a finishing pad.
