  • new line up on pc

Well my bottle of 83 froze up and caused the plastic to break , so the good news is i can go buy some new products!

Since the new products have come out, i want to try them out however i can't decide if i want to try the ultimate compound and swirlx or get the 105/205 combo. I figured they would be the same with the exception of the 105/205 have the ability to use a rotary and they come in larger sizes, but honestly i dont plan on detailing alot of cars. So what do you all think?

It would be personal preference, but I would choose the 105/205, but maybe since you are going to only be doing your vehicles UC and SwirlX might be okay too.

I can't help you with your choice, but I can tell you that ADS has 12 oz. bottles of 105 and 205.

if your funds allow, why not buy both and have a variety?

I would get both, but after the detail on my expedition with the megs microfibers, i decided i would rather spend the coin getting more of those a well as some grit guards and new wash mitt, and some dedicated pads

Well, I can tell you what I decided to do. I really only have one car to worry about, as I do not intend to do serious paint correction on my wife's Taurus. On her car I am content to stick with ColorX. And my car is in pretty good condition. I have a number of swirls, but I do not anticipate needing a compound to get rid of them. So I bought myself a bottle of M205 and a bottle of SwirlX. I plan on using the M205 as my all-around polish. If it turns out that, for a given panel, that it is not aggressive enough, I will then turn to SwirlX. And if SwirlX isn't aggressive enough either, then, and only then, will I run down to Advance Auto and pick up a bottle of Ultimate Compound. I do not see myself ever needing M105.

From what I understand, Ultimate Compound will be slightly stronger than M83. M105 is far stronger on the Meg's cutting scale, although I haven't tried it myself (yet). SwirlX is probably around M80, maybe a little less aggressive? Best I can tell, it's like a cleaner wax (someone please correct me if I'm off target).

It really depends on the condition of the vehicle you will be working on. If the vehicle is swirl free, M105 seems like overkill for a polish. Have you looked into D151 or M66? They are both great products. Also, M80 is really good...lots of oils in it. I've used M80 to touch up some of my cars in the past, good cleaning and fun to apply with a PC, always impressed with the results.

              Check ADS for some samples of D151 / M105 / M205 / M66 / Etc.

This doesn't sound right. Check out the aggressiveness order:

Most aggressive to least aggressive -->

Note that SwirlX is stated to be a bit more aggressive (at least potentially) than M83. This is why I thought I might need a bottle of the stuff in addition to M205.
