  • New to the G110/pads

So with Christmas money and all I'm thinking of buying a G110! But I'm going to buy a kit so that I don't have to buy it and then go out and buy everything else separately. I'm mainly going to use this for waxing but since it's so versatile, I'll probably use it for polishing at some point too. I don't really understand the pads. I read the sticky that says I can use the polishing or finishing pad for waxing. Which would be best? Which is more aggressive? Which pad would I use with ScratchX? Do you have any other advice? Thanks.

There are a lot of combination, depending on what are your goals and what are you working on at the moment but the main point I guess is this

-You would use the Polishing Pad with products that have cleaning ability (cleaner/polishers and cleaner waxes)
-You use the Finishing Pad to apply waxes and pure polishes

So since ScratchX has some cleaning ability you would use the Polishing Pad

      Todd,

I would wait on buying the kit until they start including the new W68 backing plate. Right now they still come with the W67 plate. If you are unable to wait, ADS has some sweet G110 Kit deals going on.

Yeah that's the store I was looking at. What would the new backing plate do for me? Would it be worth missing out on the deals at ADS and spending possibly $100 more?

Well for what it's worth. The old backing plate will work with the new pads. At least that is my understanding. I would check the deals at ADS. They are very good. Enjoy your Christmas gift.

No it would not be worth $100 more. You could pick up the W68 later for around $20. Like J.A. Michaels says, you can still use the W67 plate with the 2.0 pad.

                Just to chime in...

Have not heard when the new Soft Buff 2.0 backing plates will become available. So if you want to start machine cleaning and polishing soon you might want to get what's available now and upgrade down the road.

Sounds good to me Mike. It's funny because when I saw you in Irvine you mentioned asking for a DA for Christmas. Turns out, I'm getting one plus a duffle bag, pads, and some more microfibers!
