  • cobra pads?

bought a new G110 last week it came with 15 pads some finishing, some waxing and some orange ones

all i have ever used before buying this g110 is a dewalt power buffer with generic yellow pads at work.

everybody praises the G110 on here so i figured i would try it out.

what pads should i be using, what products are best?

i used the cobra white pad and blue pad with some fine cut polish, and some swirl remover and it didnt work as well as i thought it should.

i used it on the hood of an acura RSX (silver) -stock paint
light pressure on setting 3 with both fine cut and then swirl remover 2.0. followed by # 26

it made very little difference. help!

The speed setting 3.0 is too too gentle, it's the setting you use to GENTLY spread wax out over a pristine finish.

Get one of our yellow W-8006 Polishing Pads and bump your speed setting up to the 5.0 setting and then use with the M02 Fine Cut Cleaner, (if that's what you're referring to?), and follow the suggestions made in this thread and make sure you're not making any of the mistakes listed...

If you're moving up to machine polishing, be sure to read the below thread before starting...
Tips & Techniques for using the G110, G100, G220 and the PC Dual Action Polisher
    (These are all similar tools)

Be sure to do a Test Spot before going over the entire car. Make sure you can make the paint look good to one small area before going over the entire car.

If you're not in a hurry, wait till you can get your hands on some ultimate Compound or some new ScratchX.

      Re: cobra pads?

thanks for the speedy reply mike! im new to the whole "correcting a finish entirely" at my work we basically remove heavy defects and scratches. im the only detailer whose car has no spider webbing or any marks. (also have a single stage paint though, so i suppose im cheating )

im going to read the tips and tricks.

do you have any feedback about cobra pads? i had never heard of them before, but they came with the pc, so i guess ill find a way to use them somewhere. haha

        No experience with Cobra pads.

We've been making foam pads since 1965, in fact Meguiar's introduced the idea of buffing with foam to the industry when we introduced our first foam pad the Wooless Wonder in that same year.

Our foam recipes are special and proprietary, most of the rest of the foam pads on the market are made from generic foams that everyone that makes foam pads buys.

Find a foam pad that works for you and go with it, if you cant find a foam pad or the ones that acme with your PC are not getting the job done then maybe give ours a shot.
