  • help! This sequence is OK?

    Hi,

Iam from Brazil, and my english is very bad...

I buy one porter Cable 7424, and now i need a help to buy the pads and decide a correct sequence of polish.

I read, and read this forum, finally i got this:

Wash The car with microfiber mitt.
    Clay with QD
    PC- M83 with w8006
    PC- M80 with w8006
    PC - M82 with w9006
    PC - NXT 2.0 with w9006
PC - Finally w7006 covered with microfiber bonnet to remove de NXT 2.0.

Next day UQD over entire car.

    this sequence is OK?

    Iam buying 2 w8006, 2 w9006 and 1 ww7006 for use with microfiber bonnets.

here in Brazil i don´t find pad with 6.5", only 8, for this iam import these pads. The M83, M80 and M82 sell here.

That process will work well, but I would take out the M82. Reason being is that M80 has plenty of polishing oils in it, so you wont really need M82.

Also, try a test spot first with M80 too see if it will do the job fine. A test spot is a 2x2 foot section in which you test your process out to see if it works. So test M80 first, and it that removes the scratches, then continue with M80 on the entire car. Use the least aggressive product first, in this case M80. If M80 doesn't provide the results you like, then move up to M83.

The 8" pads are too large for the Porter Cable Polisher to use. It doesn't have enough power to rotate the pad as there is too much surface area making contact with the paint.

Since you live in Brazil, you have two options, you can try to order some smaller pads from some online vendor, or if you're between a rock and a hard place you could cut down some 8" pads to make them smaller, about 6" in diameter.

As for your process, you're close.

First you test M80 and see if it will get the job done, if it will then you don't need to use M83 and you can use M80 over the entire car and then go to wax.

If M80 isn't getting the job done, then you can start with M83 and if you do a good job with M83 you can skip M80 and go right to wax.

The point being is to use the least aggressive product to get the job done and you only have to do one cleaning step.

What type of car is it? Daily driver or garage queen? Either way, you probably wont see any difference, if you do it will be very very minimal.

The reason you're not seeing a huge difference is likely because the M80 is getting the job done, so after M80 go to the wax application step.
