I am considering the purchase of a G110. However I just have a couple questions that I couldn't seem to find in the "search" I was debating between the G110 and porter cable 7424. Is the G110 a better alternative? They both sound like great products. What stood out to me about both of them is that it's very difficult to damage the finish and very easy and quick to remove swirls (At least thats what I read) Can the G110 be used with single stage paints? I am new to this and interested in pursuing detailing, but want to make sure I get the better product. From what I read from this forum the G110 sounds like a real time saver and money well spent. Any info is appreciated. Thanks!

Re: Considering G110...
Yes, the G110 would be fantastic on single stage paints. The main two differences between the PC 7424 and the Meguiar's G110 are as follows: Meguiar's G110 has about 25% more power (Which is crucial for defect removal), and it is more ergonomically designed. In other words, you should have to spend less time using it, and it will be more enjoyable when you are.

Re: Considering G110...
Here's the simple fact.
The G110 has more power than any of the Porter Cable units and where this is going to matter is when you want to remove swirls and scratches.
More power means more ability to better remove the swirls and scratches and do it faster with less pads.
With the porter cable unit, if you're removing the swirls over the entire finish, as your buffing pads become wet with product, the will absorb too much of the power and when the power is absorbed it will show up as greatly reduced ability to remove swirls.
You can fix this by switching to a clean, dry pad. As soon as the clean dry pad becomes wet you'll lose swirl removing ability again.
So it's a trade-off... spend a little more on our tool for more power or spend less on the tool and buy more pads to get the job done.
I teach most of the Saturday classes here at Meguiar's and I've been using the Porter Cable DA Polisher since when it was first introduced to the automotive detailing world and the G110 cleans the clock of the Porter Cable unit when it comes to power and the ability to remove swirls.
