with all the different pad sizes what is the difference beside the obvious? they all work the same regardless of the size no?

I like the 6" pads better than the 8" pads (Meguiar's of course) so, my 8" pads got shrunk down to 6" pads via a razor knife, rotary and sandpaper
The smaller pads can do smaller areas and in my experience easier to control. Also, you can use the same pads on a rotary with the 6" backing plate W64 and have the W67DA backing plate for the DA.
Just personal preference. I don't think the 8" pads may spin too well on a DA after a few applications even with cleaning on the fly, not even sure they make a backing plate for the DA for the 8" pads anymore.
As far as doing the same, yes in my experience just larger and harder for me to control.Philippians 2:14 - Do all things without grumbling or questioning,
