I used my G100 for a bit this weekend and noticed there was oil on the housing. I always set it upside down with storing it in the bag. The oil was on the back part, bottom if it was upside down, right next to the vents. Anyone have this happen to them? I don't know much about electric motors and such, but this can't be a good thing.

Re: G100 with an oil leak
Will do. I want to double check too to make sure I didn't set it in oil on the floor or something. I didn't see any oil where I was working. I figure I'll take a q-tip to make sure the oil is coming out of the vent.Scott

Re: G100 with an oil leak
Hey Scott,
I actually had this happen also recently. The oil in mine seemed to come out of the head of the machine. It is working fine so far. Maybe if someone from Customer Care could chime in here. I keep mine upside down also.

Re: G100 with an oil leak
Hey Scott,
Well that's a first as I have never heard or have had that happen before on a PC or G100. My Makita rotary has done that since day one, but not any of my G100's or PC's. I am not sure where the oil would be coming from? There is only grease in the gear box of the head as I have taken a G100 apart right down. So unless the grease was so hot that it started weeping/wicking out, I have no idea as to how or where the oil would be from...

Re: G100 with an oil leak
Tim,
It was strange to me also. Mine was just sitting for about a week and when I picked it up there was oil all over the head of the machine. Up on the gray part. It seems to be working fine. So far anyway. I don't think heat was a factor.
