Greetings All,

Ive lurking the forums and decided to sign up for the hell of it. Ive been doing some researching and theres to many topics for me to keep up with, I just Ordered the Porter Cable 7424 last week and It should be arriving soon (today likely)

was wondering what kind of materials i would need to use in order to make this work.

I own a white car and theres swirls mark all over the hood, so thought id get some tips or suggestions on how to buff them out and make it look like a new car, im looking forward to spending the day and having some fun with these tools.

I may try it on my other parents cars as well (all white, never waxed) so im sure itll make a difference.

All I know i would need to buy some foam pads for it, but not sure who sells them locally here (pensacola, fl)

tips and suggestions welcome.

Thanks for the replies guys.

I got the Polisher in but I didnt want to use that foam pad (as i seen somewhere, someone recommended not to use it) so i went out and looked and looked for some other backing plates or foam polisher, i couldnt find any at all.

I guess I gotta order a backing plate and a foam polisher w-8009 or 9000 or so from amazon. I assume those are what im needing.

Or The one that came with the porter cable would work? Just add the speed glaze on it and buff away, or im just better off getting the mequiars products.


funny thing is, when i took the polisher to the store and they told me to use some bonnet pads over it, i replied, no MEQUIARS recommends using the foam without using any terry towel bonnets over it.

I'll go thru some list and see what i need. thanks!

You want to get a backing plate and some quality foam pads. You're going to learn that cleaning pads becomes an issue after using them so here's a tip... on the homepage of the forum there's an announcement about some new foam pads you can simply throw in a washing machine.

Badabing, badaboom...
