  • Makita BO6040 vs PC vs Flex

    Hey Guys and Gals

Whats the difference between the makita and something like the new flex DA or the G220???

Im from South Africa so the G220 works here, but i have to order it online and the shipping costs are stupid!! Literally have to pay double.

The flex is available here but its flippin expensive, how does R4000 ZAR sound? The importers are making things difficult even though they have only sold units to detailing businesses so far...

The makita I can source through a family friend who will give it to me at cost which is brilliant but I want a unit with some oomph behind it...

Also compatibility with Megs Pads and backing plates is a concern for me, because thats probably the only true quality detailing brand available to us here at reasonable prices.

Your advice will be greatly appreciated

The Makita is a machine with real oomph!

Check out youtube on it - especially with the edge kit.

i keep hearing people talking about the distance the pad oscillates or moves off centre in mm? I dont want to buy the makita and then be acid because it doesnt do the job like a flex would have?? i have a rotary ryobi already so i want the DA for finishing / maintenance of finish....

Throw is one factor, but not only one. Smaller throw can correct equally good as long as everything is in balance. I have both XC 3401 VRG and BO6040 but my experience with how much BO6040 can correct is limited thanks to fact I ended up liking and using XC more. However, during that limited experience BO6040 was leaving impression of having decent correction ability. To know correct answer I would need to find hood with hard clear and sand it down and I do not have resources (time, space, etc) for all of that.

If somebody in Los Angeles / Orange County area has place, hood, etc, I would be happy to bring my tools and give it a shot.

If you can do work you need to do with tool you already own in time you need to do it in then do you really need some other tool? Answer will always be no regardless of which tools we are talking about.
