I finally got M83 and when would you know when and if it goes to a dry buff? I have no experience with a G-100. Also when does a pad become saturated how can you tell? What would the best pad to use? would a w8006 be the best? The paint on my car has spider webing throughout the car. I hope that these scartches are not below the clear becuase half the car was repainted. By working by hand all this time improved it 75% or better but now it is time to get the finer scratches out.

Do you have M80 and tried it yet? Just curious.
Dry buff depends really on how hot it is outside and how hot the surface of the paint and how much product you put on the pad or surface(if using rotary). And how much product.
My personal experience......
My G100, 8006 pad. I'm a chicken so, I spray my pad VERY lightly with Quik Detail just for first start up lubrication (and only with cleaner/polishers). I put a small bead in a circle inboard about an inch from the pad, say the bead is as round as a.....cord for a wire controller for a game (couldn't think of anything). Not too much I've read. I "kiss" the surface of the paint with the pad in four spots (pad width) and one in the middle (five spots) and that is my work area 12X12. I put my G100 on 3 and spread product around, or you can just use the PC to spread the product around. I set it to speed 5, then work the product in, I never timed myself but seems like a 1 - 1 1/2 minutes or maybe more. When I can't really see the product I wipe it off. At first I had dusting and dry buff as I worked it in longer than I should and although I got rid of swirls, I left marring which makes another step for me to remove the damage I caused. Don't let that frighten you, it wasn't months later or hours later to work out the kinks. It was my test area of the 12X12. It took me a few applications to get it down then I was good to go. I basically used the hood of our Neon as a test area but working the 12X12's. As far as pad pressure goes, I pushed enough to "mushroom" the pad a little, so that the whole pad works the area. If you push too much, it stops the pad from rotating. I mark my pads with a sharpie in 4 spots so I can constantly see a mark going in circles. You will get the feel of the machine and the sound it makes. I like my pad spinning at a constant rate, not too fast but just a nice steady rotation as both the oscillating and rotation is what is doing the work. Mike put a write up using a bathroom scale to check pressure. Here it is: How to use the G100 to remove swirls Actually just past the pictures of the cars is a great explanation of how to use M83, which I referred to when I did my car:
Also, very important, CLEAN YOUR PAD ON THE FLY. Clean the pad every application, seems tedious, but it will be automatic after a while. I skipped a cleaning here and therebut shhhh
Don't tell anyone. The first problem I had with the G100 was pad saturation and the pad didn't spin at all.
The popular combination is to use 83 then to 80. On our Neon, I used 83 two to three passes and 09/80 in spots to clean it up. The Neon has hard as nails clear coat and I had troubles with it before. It looks good now and I am happy with it. Here is my write up for the Neon: 05 Neon revisited page 2, about 1/2 way down I explained what I did and show results, to which I'm proud of.
Give it a whirl.
Have fun.

Re: I got some M83.Have a couple of questions
Thanks so much Aaron, That was a great help, I plan on redoing my car this weekend and I will give M83 a try. Reason why I got 83 is that on the scale on the bottle showing how aggressive it is it was in the middle and I have some good scartches on the car that I for sure know that will come out. I got two new door dings that left white paint in my red paint but no real serious problem no dent to fix but some paint has to be removed. I paid 24 dollars for a 32 ounce bottle is that over priced?Alex

Re: I got some M83.Have a couple of questions
It's a little more than what I would pay, Auto Detailing Solutions sells a gallon for 26.99 and 32oz for 16.99 + shipping.
Also, try ScratchX for the door dings. I had a scrape on our Yukon and the combination of M02/M83 and ScratchX is I can't see it anymore. If there is serious paint transfer, try a clay bar to remove it.
Have fun.

Re: I got some M83.Have a couple of questions
I did buy the M83 from a car paint supply store so they marked it up I guess. I just went out and tried scratchX and it got most of it out but it needs a little more work. I also tried some scratchX on my bumper with my DA I have a white scrape on the side and it helped but also needs some more work I try the M83 with the DA once I get another pad. Hopefully I will have time tomorrow to get another one.

Read this.
Work the buffer for about a minute, basically long enough to make two to three passes in two directions over this section. Don't buff to a dry buff.
I have no experience with a G-100. Also when does a pad become saturated how can you tell?
Pad Saturation
The root cause of the problem is that when you place your product on the face of the foam pad and then place the face of the foam pad on the surface of the paint, before you even turn on the polisher the chemical on the pad is saturating into the foam because when you placed the foam pad with the chemical against the paint, the chemical only has one place to go and that's into the foam pad.
As you continue to work around the car, each time placing fresh product onto the face of the pad and then placing the face of the pad against the surface of the paint, you continue to force product into the pad.
The oscillating action of the pad further forces the liquid chemical into the pad and these two factors, repeatedly applying product to the face of the pad and the oscillating action act to saturate the pad''USE THE LEAST AGGRESSIVE PRODUCT TO GET THE JOB DONE RIGHT''

Re: I got some M83.Have a couple of questions
Thanks you guys. I will post pics when I am at my show which is on May 6 which will come quicker than expected. The show that I am entering I think I have a good chance at winning. Not many post 75 American cars go to my school that are in great shape. Is infiniti American? I know Nissan owns them. If Infiniti is american the only compition would be a brand new 07 G35 sport coup that is black but has so many swirls it would crack a mirror.Alex

Posting pics: If you are posting from Megs gallery, click the pick you want to post to enlarge it. Then scroll down past the pic and you will see a line of code with a small box on the right side. Click the box on the right and it will give you (2) more lines of code. Copy and paste the first line.
If it's from another sight copy and paste the HTML code. All pic hosts are a little different so it will be up to you to find the HTML code. Some times it's indicated "to post to forums and blogs"
