  • G110 Opinions Needed

I'm thinking of picking up a new G110 to fit in between the PC and rotary.

Please post any of your work or experiences with the new G110.

Do you think it's worth getting?

Because we work for Meguiar's, (obviously ), it's easy for some people to think anything we post can be seen as biased, that said, we've been using the DA Polisher to polish out paint before the electric version was being used, that is we were using air powered D.A. Sanders, like those used in Body Shops, with Meguiar's foam pads to polish paint and remove swirls for a long time.

The new G110 Meguiar's has introduced has the most power out of any DA polisher we have ever used and at this time is our first choice for a DA polisher when working on our own cars or for a customer's car.

Given the choice between a G110 and a PC or any other similar machines, we would opt for the G110 for the power reason alone because it's going to enable us to work faster and more efficiently and if you've ever done a "Complete" buff-out on a car you'll understand how important this is.

We hope others will chime in as well....

      Thanks so much Mike.

I'm just running into a lot of customers that are not needing a full 4-5 hour paint restoration anymore. Most just want a good cleaning and waxing. I've ordered #66 for this and I think the PC is not strong enough and the rotary is overkill and tiring.........in my opinion.

So Mike, would you suggest the G110 for the above process?

From my (very limited) experience with G110 I feel it is the best choice out there among ones that are fitting in the same class and price point.

By that logic it does fit between PC and rotary. Just don't expect what would be unreasonable and illogical to expect.

IMHO those that are looking to purchase tool in this class / price point will find such expectations met and will not be disappointed if they purchase it.

          Thanks Zoran.

I have used a UDM and think you have too.

How does the G110 compare to the UDM?

I was not that impressed with the UDM at all. Only at speed 6 could I tell any difference.

For production detailing, not show car detailing, where you're really only trying to clean the paint and make it shiny, then M66 by hand or with a DA Polisher would be the way to go. Whatever it takes to get the paint clean and shiny, not swirl free unless your customer is paying more for more steps.

              So,

              Wash
              Clay
              M66
              Interior
              Glass
              Dress Tires
              Dress Trim

Move on to the next customer.

Well that's a nice money making process Mike. Pretty much sums it up.......well what I'm doing these days. I do a few full corrections......about 1 every 60 days. To me, I can make a lot more money doing what you described above.

It stands for "Porter cable" Its the same thing as a G100. Just a differant brand name and warranty.

                      You are welcome.

I liked it more than UDM. Definitely less vibrations, seemingly (soundingly? LOL) less noise, and solid power switch unlike UDM's (yes, I know UDM folks eventually corrected that but I like to point it out as reminder that G110 didn't seem to be suffering from "premature release" syndrome).

When it comes to whether there is more oomph in G110 than in UDM perception was that there is but again I spent very little time with it and only those that put them to rigorous side-by-side paint correction would be able to answer that with more firmness behind the words.
