clean/polish snuglid

I was wondering if anyone has any experience/advice on cleaning/polishing the snuglid on my 04 F-150? I believe that it is some kind of gelcoat finish on fiberglass.

I have used 80 and 83 with the G-100 on my other car, but I'm not sure what to use on the snuglid (for swirls and light scratches). Would the 80/83 damage the finish? There really isn't anywhere to test it out.

Gel-coats usually buff out fairly easy, while we have a marine line of gel-coats if you already have the M83 and the M80 you can use these, if you don't need their cleaning power however you might look at a less aggressive product and even a cleaner/wax.

What defects are you trying to remove?

As with anything, always do a test spot before applying something to the entire finish.

We've hosted the Harley Davidson Ford F150 club a couple of times here at Meguiar's and one of our class graduates took his new found skills and put them to the test. We're pretty sure the hard tonneau cover has a black gel-coat, we can find out with a quick e-mail.

What defects are you trying to remove?

I mostly need to remove swirling (I promise not to use bath towels for drying anymore) and light scratching from random junk that gets set on the lid near the cab.

The link you posted was a great example. I will probably wait on this until I attend the class on the 26th, but will post pictures then.

That's a big no no.
Glad you joined the forum and learned about over materials to use for drying
