  • I need a game plan....95 Tahoe with Pics

For Christmas my dad wants me to detail his Tahoe thats in pretty bad shape. I doubt it has ever recieved a coat of wax and is heavily oxidized right now. I will be using a DA and have #2, #80, #9, #21, and #26 to use. I'm kinda worried that #2 won't cut it since I only have a polishing and waxing pads to use (8006 and 9006). Should I order something with more cut and a cutting pad or will those products ^ work? Last weekend I did a friend of mines 02 Tahoe, green, and it came out pretty good using #2. Removing all of the oxidation and the swirls for the most part but leaving some scratches behind, probably because we didn't break the polish down all the way.

Of course I'll do the mandantory two bucket method and clay before the polish so I'm not a complete NEWB to this. LOL

Here are some decent pics of the truck for reference...

    I have no idea...

I know those pics aren't the best but they should give you an idea of what kind of shape its in.

I've seen this look on another old chevy. And the paint was totally shot. But you never know what you can do till you try. bust out the m80 first and do a test spot.

That's a scary thought, once I get done with these last couple days of school I'll do a test spot and see what it looks like.

Do a test spot, or areas with #80 and a 8006 pad. Then if you need to, #83 and a 8006 pad.

You are not going to be able to get stronger than that with a G100.

I agree, don't waste your time and see what will work for it
Do a test spot and see if you like the results, if you don't then you could step to a more aggressive product.

              ???

When you are using a cleaner, there will be some paint removed, but the amount removed is not even measurable with a PC.

If the paint is a single stage, then yes, some of the color will come off.

no i mean...this paint on these trucks *****!!!! the paint doesnt bond well and when anything gets into the pores it gets under the paint and causes it to flake off...i wouldnt use anything more aggressive than 9. trust me i had one of these and i have prolly painted about 15 of them because of the shabby paint.
