  • Size of pads.

It seems that the G100 can take on either the 6.5" or 8" pads. Which one do you prefer?

Also, if you use the G100 to remove Meguiar's product (wax and polish), which bonnets/ pads do you use?

I would stick with the 6.5" pads, smaller and easier to get into tight places, I have never seen anyone on MOL use 8" pads, not to say no one has but just never seen it.

As for the bonnets, you want to use Meguiars W7006 (cutting pad) as the backing pad for the bonnet. Now Meguiars no longer makes bonnets so you will have to find another source maybe someone in Canada will chime in on where to get bonnets in your neck of the woods.

      Re: Size of pads.

      ADS still has them.

      in Canada they're running dry.

here is a cheat sheet for PAD USE.

Purple Pad #7006 - This is only used to remove wax with a bonnet.
      Yellow Pad #W8006 - For paint cleaners and cleaner/polishes #80 #83 #9
Tan Pad #W9006 - For Polishes, and waxes. #3 #7 GC Wax NXT Wax

Which pads and how many to buy.

      3 -8006
      2 -9006
      1 -7006

      Great starting mix.

its hard in Canada to find local stuff. what are you looking for?

        Re: Size of pads.

I am thinking of getting them from ADS, together with the G100.

Since it's mail order from US, I would like to get everything at the same time. I am a newbie in DA, that's why I ask questions to what to get.

          Re: Size of pads.

unfortunately ADS does not ship to Canada.

unless you have US post, you're out of luck. its unfortunate i know.

I know that ADS does not ship to Canada.

I have a buddy in US who visits Canada often. He can probably get them for me.

              I prefer 5" to 5.5".

Well since you have the shipping detail out of the way, by all means use ads. Rick is a good guy to work with and will take care of you any way he can. Good luck.

So, I understand now. G100A can use both 6.5" and 8' pads.

No one recommends using 8 inch pads on a G100. Stick to the 6.5 and smaller pads.

You can attach 8" pads to a G100. Whether the combination will be useful or not depends on what you're trying to accomplish.

The 8" pad will drastically reduce the G100's ability to remove defects. So you won't be able to do any significant surface correction.

It will work perfectly well at spreading stuff around, like waxes and glazes.

                          All true.

One thing about using large pad to spread out wax, the pad itself will tend to absorb a lot of product, if you're the more thrifty type then a smaller pad will absorb or waste less product.
