  • Advantages of Using a DA

I always thought that we used DA to remove products. I found out only recently that DA was used primarily to apply products.

Let say waxing using NXT, I found that it's easy to apply but it's hard work to remove the wax. So, what' the point of using a DA?

    Do you own a DA?

As in an electric dual action polisher? Also referred to as the G100 or the PC?

    Like this?

Let's see if we can cover all the bases...
      • DA Air Powered Sanders have been used in body shops with sandpaper to remove paint and body fillers
      • DA Air Powered Sanders have been used in body shops with our foam pads to apply polishes

In the early 1990's Meguiar's introduced the PC to the enthusiast detailing market for people to apply paint cleaners, polishes and waxes. The electrically powered Porter Cable Dual Action Polisher enabled the average person to machine polish their car's paint without having to own a large air compressor to power an air powered DA sander.

In the beginning we taught people how to apply products with this tool and as microfiber technology was introduced and later available as a bonnet we began to show people how to remove products using a bonnet over a dry pad.

Waxes will remove easily with a DA polisher as long as they are applied using thin coats.

Yes, I am referring to the G100. I do not own one now but I am interested. I am simply doing research to see if I should buy one.

Have you read through this thread?

Will I notice a difference if I use the G-100

Can't remember ever meeting anyone that regretted investing into a dual action polisher.

NXT should not be hard to remove, by hand or otherwise. How thick a coat are you applying? It should be very, very thin. Odds are, even if you think you're putting it on thin enough, you aren't. Proper drying time will impact how easy it is to remove also.

The G100 is so good tht it made me join these forums just to see what can be done hehe . And from what i have been seeing from the genral public (non pros) it would put some so called pros to shame. I been detailing for about 10years or so, not to long compared to some of the pros youll find here but i just started to use the G100 with megs products and there system. i have great results with it. Everyone who has worked on the cars paint knows tht about half way thru you get tired and slopy which shows in the end result. the machine does all the work so you get more time to spend multi step polsihing or layering you get alot done faster and beter if your either aplying or removeing. Great product and even beter service/support. real good buy. (and no i dont get paid for this heheh)
